Hello Dear Friends and Family,     (October, 2007)

We are so blessed we can't contain it!

Marriage:  Our oldest daugther Chloe is now engaged to be married to Jonathan Heston.  The wedding will most likely occur in April of next year.  Check out their attached picture.

Lymes Update:  Some of you may know that we had a Lymes "scare" several months ago when our first tests indicated possible infection.  After many prayers we retook the original tests and our CD-57 test results jumped 25+ points which is highly unusual and unexplainable - except God's hand of blessing!  We have taken some other tests and will have the results in a couple weeks.  We have been assured by a Christian doctor (ND) that Lymes tests today are inconclusive and that our symptoms are likely not sufficient enough to diagnose this.  The ND also said that even if we have Lymes we can recover by taking some natural medicines.  With confidence in the Lord's provision and direction we are proceeding with plans for Mozambique.  May the Name of Christ be E X A L T E D!!!

On to Brazil:  We now have round-trip tickets to Brazil leaving November 26th and returning March 22nd.  During that time Melissa, Elijah, & Esther will be learning Portuguese and I'll be refreshing mine.  Additionally I'll be translating Chronological Bible Storying videos and materials into Portuguese.  I will also be looking for Portuguese biblical materials which will aid in leadership training in Mozambique.

Mozambique:  Our daughter Chloe will most likely be married in April after we return from Brazil.  She and Jonathan will remain here in KC.  We're so grateful that Jonathan is a man after God's heart!  In April after the marriage, by the Lord's grace, Melissa, Elijah, Esther & I will fly out to Africa and Mozambique.

Supporting Churches Visited:  We so thank God for each of the churches we were able to visit and who share a vision with us for reaching the Makua.  The Lord has fully covered everything we'll need for our Brazil trip.  We only lack the full support for Africa which we believe He'll provide through the final commitments of churches and individuals by this year end.  We're currently at 2/3rd's of the full monthly support.  All of our regular one-time setup costs have been provided, and for the 4x4 vehicle, $5,000 has been given toward the $30,000 needed.  We rejoice that God will provide what is necessary to accomplish His purposes in Mozambique through you and us.  Thank you so much for all that has been given!

Caleb & Gardners and Beens:  Most of you know that one year old Caleb Gardner was life-flighted from Mozambique to South Africa, nearly loosing his life.  He is physically out of danger of dying but is still limited in many ways.  It is believed that he suffered brain damage and may possibly be handicapped for life.  The Gardners are returning to the U.S. to care for little Caleb, recoup, and to see if the Lord wants them to return to Nampula or not next year.  This has left an immense load on Dan & Robin Been carrying on the work in Nampula.  Please pray for them.

Mirrors:  Jesus spoke about our need to count the cost of becoming a His disciple in Luke 14:25-35.  We have all felt that the cost of going to Mozambique (from an earthly sense) is high.  We were very encouraged when we awoke Wednesday morning to find that Elijah had stayed up till 3 a.m. writing on a boat load of post-it notes scattered across the bathroom floor and stuck to the mirror saying that he loves us, Dad & Mom, and is ready to joyfully go with us to Africa.  Praise the Lord!  Please continue to pray for him.

May you be blessed this coming Lord's Day.

We praise God that you are joining us through this time,

Daniel & Melissa Maddux with Elijah and Esther
