Dear Friends,

As you know I graduated from nursing school on May 23rd.  Next on the agenda was to study for the NCLEX-PN exam in order to receive an LPN license in the state of Kansas.  After a month of studying and worrying I took the test on the June 28th.  This week the results came in the mail along with my license to practice nursing.  I passed the exam!  God has been so good to me, and so have all of you who have encouraged me and prayed for me.

Enclosed are some photos my sister took at my graduation and another photo of Nathan, Angela, and I.  As most of you know Nathan and Angela graduated on May 19th with Bachelor's degrees from the School of Liberal Arts and Sciences at the University of Kansas: Angela with a Communications Studies major and Nathan with a major in Mathematics.  He is now a graduate student in the physics department at KU and aspires to obtaining a PhD in that area.

By the Grace of God, I have the preparatory education behind me and together we can focus on how and where to serve the Lord. I first plan to travel to Brazil between August 7th and September 18th for the purpose of aiding the congregations we served to have closure on Norman's passing.  Then I plan to travel to Mozambique, Africa around October and November to do a survey trip of the mission work there.

Plans for traveling to Brazil are going well.  I received an unexpected blessing this week.  I  needed a 90 day visa to visit Brazil, so I sent in my application to the Brazilian Consulate. Instead of a 90 day visa they gave me a 5 year visa!  This reminds me that God is supplying our needs before we even know what they might be.  While in Brazil I will be visiting the homes of members of the three congregations we established there.  There have been a few problems with divisiveness among the members of the last congregation we established.

Pray for Angela and I and the Brazilians we will be in contact with.  She also bought a ticket for Brazil.  She is wanting to look for a job there possibly with translating or interpreting since she is fluent in Portuguese. Brazil is where Angela was born, grew up, gave her life to the Lord and served the Lord for many years.  She would like to live and serve the Lord there.  She does not plan to be a career missionary yet certainly an active Christian in the culture she best understands.

Pray for Danny and his family as they raise support to serve the Lord in Mozambique.  If you know of any churches or have any friends in other churches that could possibly support another missionary, please recommend they contact Danny at the address above or you can write or call Danny to make suggestions.  You may also desire to check out the B.E.A. website.  Their goal is to be in Mozambique preferably by March of 2007.

Pray for me as I get the paper work together for the trip to Mozambique.  I am applying to work with Good News for Africa.  The purpose of this mission is the Great Commission, “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, the Son, and Holy Spirit, teaching them to obey all that I have commanded you.  And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” (Mt. 28:19-20).

The objectives of the missionaries include educating and training national church leaders and meeting as many of the physical needs of the poor as the Lord enables.  These servants of God are doing a great work.  My current plan is to investigate the need for health education and to see how I could serve the churches in Mozambique in this area; however, I will always be evangelizing women as I did in Brazil for 35 years.

Thank you for the graduation gifts, for the gifts for the Mozambique trip, for the years of financial support, and especially for the many prayers being offered to God for me.  You are a part of every endeavor I take on for our Lord and Savior, Jesus.

May the Lord bless you,

Patty Maddux
